How to Make Italian Crescent Roll Bake

I just love a recipe like Italian Crescent Roll Bake that uses a sauce with all of the spices already in it.  Hunts tomato sauce with basil, garlic, and oregano makes this dish super easy to prepare and fills it with flavor with no effort from me.

Begin by browning about a pound of ground turkey, ground chicken or ground beef.  I like to rinse the meat in a colander under hot water after browning it.  Drain off all the water and pat dry then return it to the skillet.  Next add 2 cans of Hunts 8 oz. tomato sauce with basil, garlic, and oregano.  Simmer for about 10 minutes until bubbling.

Pour into a lightly greased  9×9 casserole dish (or one that is just large enough to hold the meat with it about an inch and a half thick.) Sprinkle about a cup of cheddar cheese on top and bake at 375° for 12 minutes until cheese melts.  Prepare crescent rolls to bake at the same time.

How to Bake Crescent Rolls

Open a can of crescent rolls by placing a spoon at the seam and push down.  It will pop.  Twist the can open and remove dough and place them on a plate.  Separate dough triangles and roll them up starting at the wide end.  Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake at 375° for 9 to 12 to minutes until golden.  I bake the crescent rolls at the same time as the casserole with the cheese.

How to Assemble Italian Casserole {Crescent Rolls}

Remove casserole dish with ground meat and cheese from oven.  Remove baked crescent rolls from oven.  Place baked crescent rolls on top of the meat and cheese in the casserole dish.  Serve immediately.  Enjoy!
