How to Overcome Problems in Life

How to Overcome Problems in Life

We all have problems and need to learn how to overcome problems in life.  Some are trivial and some are definitely a crisis. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 4:8 (NIV)  “ We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;  persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”  That sure sounds like a good definition of problems and how we can feel when facing them.

What can we do when facing problems?  Should we worry and fret over all of our problems?  No – the Bible tells us in Matthew 6:25-34 (NIV) not to worry.

Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Cast All Your Cares

Instead of worrying, the Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.  Doesn’t it feel good to tell a friend all of your problems?  Jesus is our friend and he wants you to cast your cares and problems on Him.  The word “cast” is a fishing term that depicts when someone takes their fishing rod and casts (or maybe “heave ho” would be a good expression) their line into the water.   They do not know what they are going to bring back up but they have faith that it will be something good.

As I was thinking about how to overcome problems the term JUMP jumped into my mind.

J -Jesus

U-Under

M-My

P-Problems

That seems like a pretty good way to remember to jump and let Jesus be under my problems as I cast my cares upon Him.  I can pray to Him and tell him all about it.  He loves us and wants to help us.

And remember, Mathew 7:11 (NIV) says “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

So JUMP today and give your cares to Jesus.  Remember to be thankful for all He has done, is doing, and will do for you.
