Easy waffle recipe for homemade batter from scratch to bake in your waffle maker. Mix dry ingredients and wet ingredients separately. Combine gently and use a ladle to spoon waffle batter into a hot waffle maker being sure to not overfill so the batter doesn't pour out the sides. Add nuts such as pecan or walnuts to the batter before closing the grates. Remove from waffle maker with a spatula and top with your favorite toppings such as maple syrup, powdered sugar, whip cream, blueberries or strawberries.
Measure flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl.
Mix eggs, milk, olive oil, and vanilla in a medium bowl. Whisk until combined.
Pour wet ingredients (eggs, milk, oil and vanilla) into the large bowl with flour mixture.
Mix gently with a large spoon or cake spatula until all ingredients are combined and no dry ingredients remain visible.
Open waffle maker and spray olive oil onto grates. Spoon waffle batter with a soup ladle into hot waffle iron.
Add pecans or other nuts if desired. Cover grate area with batter just to the sides being careful to not overfill. It will expand when it cooks.
Close waffle maker and let bake. It will take about 6 minutes. They are ready when you gently lift the waffle lid and they are golden in color and crispy in appearance.
Open lid and remove with a flat spatula. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings: maple syrup, regular syrup, whipped cream, powdered sugar, fresh blueberries, strawberries or other fruit.
