If your breakfast routine needs a makeover, try this turkey sausage crescent bake. It has only 4 main ingredients and is so easy to make!
I love a good breakfast casserole, but I don’t like to eat too much regular ground sausage. This recipe uses turkey sausage and the results are great. It refrigerates or freezes well for leftovers long after the relaxed weekend is but a memory. Getting ready for work or school is easy when you pop individual servings into the microwave or toaster oven.
Directions for Turkey Sausage Crescent Bake
Preheat oven to 350°F. Begin by browning 1 pound of ground turkey sausage in a skillet. Turkey sausage is coarser than regular ground sausage so you have to separate it with the spatula into tiny pieces as it cooks. After it has finished cooking, I like to rinse it in a colander and pat dry. Next lightly grease a 9×13 casserole dish with Pam or olive oil spray.
Open a can of cresent dough and place the raw dough on the bottom of the casserole dish stretching it gently to fill the bottom and up the sides a little bit. You can use regular crescent rolls but the dough sheet is so much easier than pinching triangles together! Place the cooked (and slightly cooled from rinsing) turkey sausage on top of the dough and spread evenly. Add 6 eggs that have been lightly stirred with a fork. Add a few shakes of salt and pepper, if desired. Top with about 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. The dough should be light golden. Remove from the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes. Cut, serve and enjoy!
