Easy Cole Slaw Recipe (Coleslaw)

Simple Coleslaw Recipe

Easy cole slaw recipe (coleslaw) with 3 ingredients adds amazing flavor as a side dish for your BBQ, Picnic, Potluck, Tailgate or dinner.

It takes 5 minutes to mix it up and it is one of the best homemade sides to go with so many main dishes. We like it with BBQ, Pork Tenderloin, and Rainbow Trout.

This Easy Coleslaw Recipe is a great last minute salad to take to a cookout or picnic.  It is quick and inexpensive and I never have leftovers to take home!

It is also easy to prepare beforehand and takes the pressure off some of the main day cooking.

Easy Coleslaw Ingredients

For this recipe I bought the 10 ounce bag of fresh Angel hair coleslaw.  You can buy whatever size your store sells and add more homemade coleslaw dressing as needed.

This recipe works best with green or white cabbage. Do not use red cabbage because the dressing will cause it to turn an ugly shade of purple.

I like to use Duke’s mayonnaise because it has a unique smooth flavor, but whatever you kind you have on hand will work.  Be sure to use granulated sugar to mix with the mayonnaise and taste it to get it to your desired sweetness.

Easy Coleslaw Recipe Step by Step Instructions

Coleslaw Dressing Recipe

First mix about a cup of mayonnaise and 1/4 cup of sugar in a mixing bowl.  Stir well. Taste and add more sugar if you want it to be sweeter.

Next pour the bag of slaw in another larger mixing bowl.  I like to rinse and dry it even if the package says it is pre-washed.

Be sure it is dry by blotting well with paper towels. This will help to keep from having runny coleslaw after it has set.

Add the mayonnaise sugar mixture on top in large spoonfuls.

Mixing Coleslaw

Finally, mix gently and pour into a Tupperware or Rubbermaid type of container.  Be sure the container has a little room left over to stir before serving.  Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Give it a final stir before serving to mix all ingredients well. If there is any liquid, you can drain it off before serving.
